Welcome to AB Commander LITE! If you are not experienced with this software, you may wish to keep the "Show Tips on Startup" option ON for awhile. There's a wealth of hints in store to help you get the most out of AB Commander LITE.
You may drag the toolbar and drive bar with the mouse to other places on the screen. The bars can be "docked" to any side of the main window, or they can be left "floating" above the window.
To display the context menu for the toolbar, drive bar, or for the status bar, click on the bar with the right button of your mouse.
You can quickly switch the input focus between the active panel and the command prompt by pressing the Shift+Esc key combination.
You can use the Ctrl+Ins key combination to append the name of the currently selected file to the end of the command prompt. Pressing the Shift+Ins key combination appends the full path of the selected object.
To quickly clear the command prompt while browsing the folders, press the Ctrl+Del key combination. To undo the last change to the command prompt made with the Ctrl+Ins/Shift+Ins keys, press the Alt+Del key combination.
You can quickly rename a group of similarly named files using the Rename item on the Command menu. For example, to change the extension of a group of TXT files to ASC, first specify "*.TXT" as the mask to filter only TXT files among all files contained in a folder. And then specify "*.ASC" in the "Rename To" field of the dialog box.
To quickly copy or move files from one folder into another, make the panels display the source and target folders, and use the "Commands" menu to perform the desired operation.
To quickly select (or deselect) a group of files based on their file extensions, use the Select command.
You can use the Folder | Synchronize command to make a panel display the contents of the same folder as the opposite panel does.
To go to the parent folder (one level up), double click on the icon in the panel's title bar, or press BackSpace key.
To insert a file name into the command prompt, drag the file with the mouse and drop it over the command prompt. Even more, you can drag the file with the right mouse button, and choose what to insert into the command prompt from a menu.
You can change the font and the text color used to display the file listings, by choosing appropriate commands on the View menu.
To go to the root folder on the current drive, press the Alt key, and, while holding it down, double click on the icon in the panel's title bar. You can also use the Alt+BackSpace key combination.
You can use the Folder | Tree command to quickly locate the folder you want to navigate to. The Folder Tree window may be used with or without the auto-synchronize mode.
To quickly go to the Desktop folder up from any other folder, press the Shift+BackSpace key combination. Or press and hold down the Shift key, and double click on the icon in the panel's title bar.
You can use the Alt+F1 and Alt+F2 key combinations to quickly display the Drive menus for the left (or top) and right (or bottom) panels, respectively.
You can use the Alt+Left_Arrow and Alt+Right_Arrow key combinations to quickly navigate the folders according to their positions in the History list.
You can use the Ctrl+F1 and Ctrl+F2 key combinations to quickly display the Network menus for the left (or top) and right (or bottom) panels, respectively.
You can use the View | Status bar | Indicators command in the main menu to add or remove indicators displayed on the status bar.
You can use the Quick Edit command to quickly open any file with the application you have designated as the quick editor. (Notepad is the default Quick Editor.)
To access the main menu of AB Commander LITE when it is in the "Full Screen" mode, press the Alt+Space key combination, and then use the left and right arrow keys to navigate among different portions of the main menu.
To quickly switch the view to/from the "Full Screen" mode, press the Ctrl+S key combination.
To quickly maximize the active panel (or to restore its original size), press the Ctrl+M key combination.
